Experience new commissioned works on the Art City Austin site by local artists Denise Prince, Ian Cion, Cybil Gustafson and Jackie Young. Art Alliance Austin challenged Austin artists to create awe-inspiring projects and in January 08 a jury selected these three projects. The jury was comprised of: Annette Carlozzi - Curator of American and Contemporary Art, Blanton Museum of Art; Eva Buttacavoli - Director of Exhibitions and Education, Austin Museum of Art; Ursula Davila Villa - Assistant Curator of Latin American Art, Blanton Museum of Art; and Laurence Miller - Founder of Fluent Collaborative.

I am _______.

Jackie Young + Cybil Gustafson will present a collaborative installation titled I Am, an interactive photography exhibition that invites patrons to provide statements that describe themselves to accompany individual Polaroid portraits taken by Jackie Young. Performance artist Cybil Gustafson will hang the photos and statements. From the artist’s statement: “I am interactive. I am a large-scale installation. I am a representation of individuals. I am the story of a community. I am. We are.” http://iamatx.blogspot.com

Art Bus Project by Ian Cion.

Two Capital Metro buses will be designed inside and out with art by the young patients of Dell Children’s. These rolling galleries will act as a free shuttle during Art City Austin, running patrons from the site to AMOA and The Blanton. Project collaborators include Ian Cion Studio, Dell Children’s, Capital Metro, 3M and Art Alliance Austin.
