Art City Austin
For one weekend in April we turned the center of downtown Austin into a wonderful celebration of art, culture, and creativity. Thank you for all of your support.
This event would not have been possible without the hundreds of volunteers that share their weekend, an extraordinarily dedicated volunteer committee that commits hundreds of hours to organize the festival, our dedicated and passionate supporters and sponsors, our members that participate year round in everything that Art Alliance Austin produces, our focused and enthusiastic board of directors, a commitment from all of our friends at city hall and the DAA, support from the surrounding businesses in the 2nd St District. And of course the weekend could not happen without the talent of all of those that displayed their passion and creativity: our artists from across the nation, local artists displaying in City Hall’s Peoples Gallery, Co-Lab, Boost Project with Austin High, San Anto Cultural Arts, Hatch Workshop, Creative Action, and Articulture Designs.
Why Art City Austin ’13 was one of our best years EVER!:
Amazing attendance: over 15,000 people came downtown to experience the creativity that is Art City Austin.
People bought art! Most of our artist’s reported banner years in terms of sales and said that this is one their favorite festivals.
The best food court in Austin! In 2013 we brought Austin’s favorite food trucks to the 1st bridge and each one rocked! Thanks to Coolhaus, Chi’lantro, Whole Foods, Llamas, Crepe Crazy, Hero Gyro, The Best Wurst, Davila’s BBQ, and Snowie. And thanks to Hatch Workshop for the coolest food court tables–they did make the food taste even better.
People came and stayed downtown! 2nd St District was bustling all weekend long. Our friends in the district reported a record weekend.
The VIP & Collector’s Badge Lounge was transformed by Articulture Designs and kept refreshed by Drambuie Cocktails!
Get ready for Austin’s weekend-long arts festival that transforms the streets of downtown. The celebration of art, culture and creativity will take place April 13 & 14, 2013 invigorating the streets, plazas and open spaces along Austin’s Cesar Chavez Street and 2ND Street District with art of all kinds.
Part art festival, part block party, Art City Austin features an outdoor art fair of nationally recognized artists, the People’s Gallery at City Hall with more than 150 works of art by Austin artists, local food trailers, craft beer and cocktails, live music on the main stage and interactive projects for kids of all ages. Downtown’s art festival brings the community together block-party style to celebrate Austin’s vibrant creative culture in one of the most lively and beautiful areas of downtown.
